It is a land of floating clouds, beautiful lakes, amazing caves, romantic waterfalls, rich flora and fauna, wonderful culture and several other mesmerizing tourist attractions. Surrounded by the mighty Himalayas, this destination is popularly known as the abode of the clouds. Cherapunjee, the place which receives highest rainfall in the world is located in this north eastern state. Adventure sports like trekking are a major attraction of this tourist destination.</p>

Offering adventure, these caves are visited by many a tourist seeking adventure. Made of limestone, these caves have stalactites and stalagmites, which are formed due to a fascinating phenomenon. The joining of the roofs and floors of these caves lead to the formation of pillars that attract attention.<br />

Elephant Falls<br />
Resembling an elephant, this fall offers picturesque views of the surroundings. This is a two tiered waterfall, which sparkles like a jewel when kissed by sun rays. It is popular as a picnic spot where you can spend quality time with your loved ones.<br />
Barapani Lake<br />
An adventurous site, this lake is the perfect place to indulge in adventure sports like kayaking, water cycling and boating. The Orchid Tourist home overlooking the lake and the floating restaurants on the lake attract visitors in great numbers.</p>
<p>Khasi Hills<br />
Enveloped in beauty, Khasi Hills are dotted with a variety of arresting attractions such as Ward&#8217;s Lake and Botanical garden, butterfly museum, Shillong peak, Bishop and Beadon falls, Cathedral Church, Sweet falls and many other attractions.</p>
<p>Nohkalikai Waterfall<br />
Fourth longest waterfall in the world, Nohkalikai waterfall has a height of 1100 feet. The sight of this waterfall is truly bewitching. There is an interesting legend associated with it.</p>
